Mission

:::
Our mission is to prepare students with professional knowledge, research capability, ethical responsibility and global perspectives to fulfill national development needs, within the constraints of environment and sustainability. The educational objectives are listed as follows:
  1. Professional knowledge: to provide students with a strong polymer science education and engineering practice.
  2. Research capability: to prepare students to proactively identify, formulate, and solve problems and with abilities for critical thinking, effective communication and collaborative work in diverse teams.
  3. Ethical responsibility: to prepare students to deal ethically with the impact of technology in our society and to be sensitive to professional and societal responsibility.
  4. Global perspectives: to prepare students to be globally-engaged citizens and able to function professionally in an increasingly international and rapidly changing world.
Students graduating from the Institute of Polymer Science and Engineering will demonstrate the following core capabilities:
  1. A fundamental understanding of polymer physics, chemistry, characterization and engineering.
  2. An ability to integrate knowledge across disciplines.
  3. An ability to apply fundamental knowledge and practical design experience to solve engineering problems.
  4. An ability to proactively identify, formulate, and solve problems.
  5. An ability to think critically and draw conclusions independently.
  6. An ability to communicate effectively in presentations and in writing and to successfully participate in teams.
  7. An understanding of contemporary issues related to polymer technologies and the impact of polymer technologies in an environmental, societal and global context.
  8. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibilities.
  9. An ability and motivation to engage in self-reflection and life-long learning.
  10. An ability to think globally, to understand themselves and the world from multiple perspectives.
